If you are in need of electrical motor insulation for your business and have any questions about the types of materials suitable for this type of function, then you have come to the right place! Keep reading to find out more!
Before we talk about the insulation of electric motors, we want to talk about the electrical insulator.
The main purpose of an insulating material is to separate electrical conductors without transmitting current from one to the other and to protect individuals from electrically energized wires and parts.
A thorough knowledge of insulating materials and standards for safe work practices is required.
A material that responds with a very high resistance to the flow of electric current or that completely resists electric current is called an insulating material.
In insulating materials, valence electrons are tightly bound to their atoms.
In the electric field, the purpose of any insulating material is to separate electrical conductors without transmitting current through it.
Materials such as PVC, glass, asbestos, rigid laminate, varnish, resin, paper, Teflon and rubber are very good electrical insulators.
Insulating material is used as a protective coating on electrical wires and cables.
The most significant insulating material is air. In addition, solid, liquid and gaseous isolates are also used in electrical systems.
Electrical isolation is critical as the electrical shock caused by the flow of current through the human body can result in physiological effects caused by fatal wounds resulting from involuntary moments of death from ventricular fibrillation (the heart’s rhythmic pumping action ceases) or contraction muscle.
Discover some Geartech BR products that can be used to insulate electric motors
Polyester Class B 130
Polyester Class B 130 is a low-oriented, high mechanical strength polyester film. It has dimensional stability characteristics that provide great electrical insulation capacity, having better behavior in automatic insertion machines compared to other types of insulation.
Polyester films are widely used as insulators between the conducting wires and the stator in electric motors.
This type of film meets different types of use, such as insulation processes in electric motors, transformers, generators, among other equipment.
Class H 180
Class H 180 is used as an electrical motor groove insulator.
It is resistant to the rigorous machine winding process, and can also be applied in transformers with high temperature and insulation between winding phases.
It is composed of polyester film, coated on both sides with aramid paper (Nomex®), glued with synthetic thermosetting adhesive.
It has high dielectric strength, excellent adhesion of impregnation varnish or drip resin to the laminate. Low moisture absorption, good thermal and chemical resistance.
Isolex paper
Flexible electrical insulator with a smooth surface and thermal class A (105°C). These characteristics make Isolex Paper suitable for insulating ducts of electric motors, transformers, rotors and switches. Can be used in joints or separators.
Clear Polyester 130
Clear 130 Polyester film is widely used in insulators between the conducting wires and the stator in electric motors.
It is a product with excellent diversity and is therefore also used in lamination, winding transformers, masking cassettes, adhesive tapes and other general purpose applications.
